Sri K G Simon IPS had joined the Kerala police on 02/07/1984 as probatory SI. His first assignment after completing his successful training was as SHO Thumba police station in Trivandrum city and he has also worked as SI at Valiyathura, Nedumkandam, Adimaly, Vellathooval and as CA of police at Nadapuram, Cherpp, Medical college Calicut city, Nilambur, Munnar, Devikulam, worked as DYSP at Kattappana, Thodupuzha , Aluva, as DYSP Admin and Special Branch Idukki ,SSB Muvattupuzha etc. Sri K G Simon has completed a total period of almost 37 years of dedicated and devoted service in Kerala police and has roused to the rank of Superintendent of police, has been subsequently conferred with IPS and has served as Superentendent of Police crime branch Ernakulam and Kottayam, as District police chief of Kasargod, Kottayam, Kollam Rural, Thrissur city, Kozhikode Rural and Pathanamthitta. His 37 years of service have been dotted with impressive milestones. Sri Simon has displayed excellent overall performance in investigations, law and order and police administration. He has been instrumental in successfully cracking the mysteries revolve around many crime cases in which some of them are ever remembered in the investigation history of Kerala police.
While he was working as Superintendent of police Ernakulm, 19 undetected murder cases were detected within 3 years and it’s a record in the history of crime branch in Kerala . The 19 year old missing case of one Mahadevan of Changanaserry police station was one among them. His detective skill proved that the missing person had actually been murdered 19 years back. Investigation further revealed that a subsequent murder was also committed by the culprit, which was also brought in front of law. And feather in his cap was indeed the arrest of the accused in the sensational Koodathayi serial murder cases, the findings of which are the headlines of mass media in the state, country and world as well. Sri K G Simon’s IPS capacity to handle communally sensitive situations are praise worthy and has been imminently displayed during his 10 years of as District police chief in various districts, specially Kasargod and Kozhikode Rural. In recognition of the commendable performances, he was awarded President’s police medal for distinguish service, medal for excellent investigating police officer from MHA, President’s police medal for meritorious service, CM’s reward, DG’s Commendations, Badges of honor, MSCs, GSCs, NACs, Cash award and Letters of appreciation. All together more than 215 awards. He was awarded MSC while working as CI of police in Munnar and Idukki district for the detection of 7 murder cases within a period of 12 months.He is very active in law and order and crime investigation and has served most of his service in law and order Policing. He has performed all his duties in an outstanding manner and has an unblemished record of service. His discipline and efficiency stands out and inspires a lot of budding young police officers to become better achievers in the police force. His sincerity and exemplary service to the police organization have been recognized and has awarded him union minister’s medal for excellence in Police investigation. It’s only due to inspired efforts of outstanding officers like him that the pol.ice department still holds its head high in the eyes of common man.
